You don't need prior knowledge of R/C modeling to join the Indianapolis Admirals. The Admirals welcome anyone with an interest in nautical subjects and model boat and ship building and operation. We invite you to visit one of our regular monthly meetings to see and learn about our organization. Check us out on Facebook too! (You don't have to be a member of Facebook to view our page, information and photos.) Club Membership is open to all. We have Senior memberships for those 17 years and older, and Junior memberships for those less than 17 years old. We especially like to encourage younger members so that we can share our experience and introduce them to the fun hobby of model boating! Join HERE
Admirals club members build and operate scale merchant ships, pleasure craft, work boats, military ships, sailboats, and just about anything that floats or submerges (in the case of submarine models). Many boats are built from kits and some are scratch-built from plans and photographs. The models are powered by electric motors, steam engines, or wind power in the case of sailboats.
Monthly meetings are typically conducted on the second Thursday of the month at 6:30 PM at the Clay Township Government Center just north of 106th and College Avenue. Directions and last minute changes are available on the "INFO" page of our web site. Club meetings are kept informal for the most part to allow the free exchange of information and to examine interesting models brought for display. Members often demonstrate a variety of techniques related to model ship building and conduct other programs of general interest as well. Our December meeting is a enjoyable evening social event which includes dinner.
If you have an interest in our club, please accept our sincere invitation to visit with us!
